Our Trussell Trust food bank appeal

What can £1 do? Quite a lot actually. This Christmas time, we’re asking our customers to kindly donate £1 to our Trussell Trust food bank fund. In return, we’re going to match the amount raised and donate in food to our local Trussell Trust food bank.

Why did Howies Restaurants choose Trussell Trust as our charity partner this year? It’s simple. Too many children are going hungry and we want to do something about it. Last year 55,000 emergency food parcels were handed out to children in Scotland. 55,000? Let that sink in.

The worst times of year can be the school holidays where children are not getting access to school dinners – this is when food banks can see the biggest surge in requirement. Trussell Trust’s aim is for no child to know what a food bank is. By donating to a food bank, we can help families who have been pulled into crisis – and help our food banks to provide compassionate, practical support and advice to help resolve a crisis.

And because we work in food, our buying power is greater. Therefore our money can go further and we can work with our suppliers to make a significant contribution.

We will be adding a £1 donation to all bills this Christmas time. However, this is completely discretionary and can be removed from the bill.
