Howies Waterloo

Our flagship restaurant, Howies Waterloo, sits at the foot of Calton Hill at the East End of Princes Street. An impressive bow-ended Georgian hall built to celebrate the Battle of Waterloo.

Built in 1815, the sense of history is tangible. High ceilings and original period features are the background to Howies’ contemporary Scottish style.

Howies Victoria

Howies Victoria, in Edinburgh’s historic Old Town, sits on Edinburgh’s famous Victoria Street, one of Europe’s most beautiful (and most-photographed) streets.

Howies is a 2-minute walk from Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Mile and The Grassmarket.

Scotts Kitchen

Scotts Kitchen is situated on south facing Victoria Terrace directly above Howies Victoria Street a 2-minute walk from Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Mile and The Grassmarket.

Scotts offers all-day dining and drinks. Ideal for private gatherings. Al fresco available when weather allows.

Scottish, Seasonal & Seriously Tasty

Our food is a celebration of Scotland’s natural larder and local producers. We know all of our suppliers on a personal level, working closely with them for some time, so you can rest assured Howies food is the very best Scotland has to offer.

  • Wild Highland venison from Perthshire
  • Delicious salmon from Belhaven Smokery
  • Grass fed steak from family owned butcher Shaw’s in Lauder
  • Lobsters from East Lothian
  • Succulent mussles from the Shetland Isles
  • Ice cream from Mackies in Aberdeenshire
  • Cheese from Ian Mellis, who have a shop just down from Howies on Victoria Street – a must visit for cheese fans.

We also offer locally produced drinks including a huge array of whisky, Stewarts craft beer, Thistly Cross Cider from East Lothian, Edinburgh Gin and Arbikie vodka amongst others.
