‘Sea’ food the Howies way…

There’s nothing fishy to ‘sea’ here, just sheer delight as we celebrated National Seafood Week this week. At Howies Restaurants, we love cooking with fresh fish and with Scotland being among the largest fishing nations in Europe, we’re lucky to be able to be to source ours close to home.

Our menus are packed with seafood – salmon from the Shetland Isles, trout from Loch Etive, haddock from Peterhead, hake from the North Sea and mussels from Shetland (to name but a few). And today we were on top fish form as we hosted a private event in Scotts Kitchen where guests enjoyed Scottish seafood platters overflowing with lobster from Eyemouth, langoustines from the Isle of Skye, hot and cold smoked salmon from the Shetland Isles and crab claws from East Lothian – it looked sublime!

Oh and don’t even get us started on the health benefits of fish – it’s incredible for you! Firstly, it’s low in saturated fat (unlike make other animal proteins) and really rich in omega-3 fats. This keeps your ticker in check and normalises blood pressure. It’s also of course loaded with protein so perfect for those of you who like to work on your ‘mussels’…
