Our flagship restaurant Howies Waterloo remains open 7 days a week.
Restricted hours from 11.30 until 6pm and no booze but other than that….it’s business as usual!
Lara and team are looking forward to welcoming you in to enjoy our new Autumn menu all the seasonal goodies you expect from your local restaurant.
At this time of year we all need a virtual hug as we are not able to give a real one, and to this end we have launched the Howies Roast on a Sunday. Mmmmm. BOOK NOW
The Roast will vary, from Scottish Beef to Scottish Lamb for the meat eaters and a deliciously bespoke Vegetarian Roast for those who prefer not to eat meat.
The accompaniments are staying the same week to week, the main reason being we are all hooked on these extraordinary Yorkshire puds….just look at these little beauties and tell me you’re not licking your lips.
Tier 3 is where we stay for the moment so our opening hours remain 11.30am until 6pm.
During the rollercoaster that is November 2020 in Edinburgh we have temporarily closed Howies Victoria Street.

We’ve been busy! Fitting a new staircase, a new kitchen floor and a stylish new glass screen, which as you see looks as thought it was always meant to be there.
Reopening is a labour of love, and if there’s one thing we all love it’s delicious Scottish seasonal food as you can see with the huge cheesy grin of our Chef who is loving theses lobsters!
We’ve a new menu to utilise the very best of our Summer seasonal produce which we are sure you will enjoy. We certainly enjoyed tasting it in advance of it going live for you.
We are so proud of the building, the original Calton Meeting rooms, that we like to make a song and dance about it….tumbling flowers and lots of greenery, flank the door so as you sit alfresco and enjoy your drinks, coffee, and food you’re surrounded by nature.
It’s been a challenging time for us all, but we want you to know we have taken every measure to make our restaurant as safe as possible. So much so that we have been Awarded the AA Covid Ready certificate which is proof that our team and venue have met their very stringent conditions. In addition we have the Good To Go Certificate from Visit Scotland. More assurance we are really on it.
