It just seems like yesterday owner and founder David Howie Scott opened his first Howies. Having been passionate about Scottish food since he was a wee boy getting tangled up in his mothers apron strings it was 1990 after years of dreaming and planning that Howies was born.
Word quickly spread that Howies was the go to place for delicious, seasonal local food delivered with a smile in an informal atmosphere. With David cooking and a lively front of house team, Howies was irresistibly good fun, an ethos which has stood Howies in good staid, as more than 25 years later David is very proud to have three Howies Restaurants and this year, together with his team, he launched Scotts Kitchen. Carrying the same ethos, Scotts Kitchen specialises in exceptional breakfasts, home baking and hearty lunches.
Although no longer wearing chefs whites himself, David is always in one of the restaurants a constant smiling and enthusiastic presence justifiably proud of the wonderful team around him head up by Stephen Mackenzie – which is the only way he can be in four places at once!
